The following is a list of companies and services that you should avoid whenever possible.
Many on the list, in my expert opinion, are simply designed to separate you from your hard earned money.
This months #1 Astound Broadband dba RCN
Had this service, after a 20% price increase and a phone call to cancel service, when prompted to cancel services, it disconnects you, when talking to a live rep, the rep kept putting me on hold, just 3-4 minutes, turned into 26 minutes, never was able to end services, or settle my bill. As an IT professional, we all know it does'nt take 26 minutes to log into an account and cancel it. This rep intentionally kept leading me on, and yes this is a deceptive business practice that no one would ever do unless being instructed by the company. Yes, I sent them a bill. If you have a similar story, please send them to my email, chris@basictechhelp.com so I can post and keep our community safe. This is exactly why you don't do autopay!! Now, the ball's in their court to discuss with me!

Any programs that offer to speed up or make your pc run faster. The only things that will make your PC faster is a faster processor or more memory. Any of the tools that these software sellers use are already built into your computer.
Many other services that claim to hide your location, not much need for that nowadays. These will all make your computer run slower, anything that appears on your screen has to be run thru them first, usually the software contains other tracking software you would not want. It can manipulate your ads as well as what you see.
Browser extentions are now a popular thing, they offer to compare prices and save you money, maybe....your extention really is NOT free, it comes with other tracking software, be careful when checking "accept all". It's not worth the few dollars it may save you.
