Keeping safe means keeping alert. The best way to avoid being a victim is to be skeptical. The internet is "worldwide" which means criminals are usually overseas in a country that has no laws or will to shut them down. It's a billion dollar business to separate you from your data, and eventually your dollars. You thought getting that free app that saves you money and time, order from our app, that;s a good one, or enter your email for an instant discount, yes, you've just made the list. Hmmm, not so free after all, now that my emails out there, who knows where they sell the data to? Next thing you know your getting calls, texts, alerts, emails from places you dont know. Some of the things in apps terms and conditions are we can access your contacts, and do just about anything they want, it pays to read them before downloading the app, some are quite rediculuos, and you would NEVER agree to it, but you just click accept. Bad move!
In emails, ALWAYS look for errors in spelling and grammar, since many of these originate from other countries, the fake creators often misspell simple words, use odd wording, even their own company name is misspelled, These are meant to fool YOU! Many people pay no attention till it's too late.
example, got an email from admin team, however return email was going to admin teaN ???
NEVER open mail from people you dont know know!
NEVER click on links that will take you to a page that ask you to enter information of any kind.
NO BUSINESS OR AGENCY sends emails with a link to collect or reset your information unless you requested it do so..
NEVER respond to any purchase or charge to your account has been or will be made-NEVER
The only charges that are real will appear on your bank or credit card statement, with a phone number next to it should you have a question or wish to contest the charge.
No legitimate company will ever force you to respond quickly or lose the opportunity, if that's the case, big red flag, run fast as you can!
to be continued..........stay safe
A thing to remember: when your devices want YOU to store your sign in credentials and credit card information
WHATEVER MAKES IT EASIER FOR YOU makes it easier for the criminal
So Beware and be stay informed
