A computer setup involves much more than pressing the power button. Your Windows Operating System contains many features to keep you safe and protected in the event of an unexpected error or problem. These features are in Windows, but do not come automatically turned on, or to your liking. A professional set up customizes your experience to make it easier for you. Ask yourself the below questions:
-Do you sign in to YOUR computer with a simple 4 digit pin? You can!
-Does your laptop close any open programs and shut down when you simply close the lid ? This will help keep your laptop in top condition and running fast!
-Is your computer operating in "S-MODE? This limits where you can go to buy on the internet? It steers you to Microsoft partners, they may not be the best deals. If you try to turn off S-Mode, you get a scare message that this is unsafe. Hogwash! You will be better off.
-Is your POP UP blocker turned on? High, medium or low? This will help limit pop up advertising when surfing the internet!
-Are your AD's and advertising turned off? It can be!
-Feel like your being hit with excessive advertising from Microsoft? That one comes turned on, it must be turned off to stop the advertising.
THE FOLLOWING FEATURES COULD HELP SAVE YOU REPAIR COST IN THE EVENT OF A UNEXPECTED ERROR OR SHUTDOWN OR FREEZE UP. READ MORE
-Is remote access turned on........If you are using Windows Professional or better Version, you have Windows remote access built in, meaning anyone running a Windows System with this option can log in remotely to fix your computer, or offer tutoring. This feature Does not come turned on automatically. It must be enableD. Is your's on?
-Is event viewer turned on....this is a tool built in that allows a technician to access relevant information about any errors that occurred. It will tell the tech the problem.
Not always turned on, depends who did your setup.
-Does Windows Update your system just as your ready to do something.............
Windows Updates can be set to update at only predetermined times and dates,or turned off if you desire that.
-Did you make a recovery drive? In the case of a fatal error, this would restore your computer to the original out of box condition. If your computer requires this to start, without it you need a new computer. If you have it, your in business again less than an hour..
Think of a recovery drive as Insurance for your computer.
Are your important files being automatically backed up? Not if you did not set it up.
-Is Back Up and Restore turned on ? Not usually, if your computer encounters a problem, this allows you to turn back your computer to before the problem occurred.
-Did you create a System Restore point when your computer was first set up?
-Are your default's setup, programs, download manager?
-Want Google Mail instead of Outlook, want to have everything you download from the web go to the same folder everytime.
